Story Saturday- Honor Where it is Due

Hi Friends,

I can’t wait to have our annual Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow night.  I am sure it is going to be an awesome time and many fun memories will be made.  I’m also praying it will be another way to help connect our neighbors with our church and hopefully lead to more coming out on Sundays to hear about Jesus.  It gets me so excited to think about how God uses things like this for his mission.

You are such an encouraging church and so I anticipate that many of you will want to thank me for putting this dinner on.  I want to make sure I get ahead of that though and redirect you to where your gratitude should truly belong.  Elise Neumann is the mastermind behind everything that happens tomorrow.  From organizing the food, to decorations, games, etc…  I had one meeting with her and then she took off running.  Eric was a huge help in that as well.  So please make sure you thank her, especially in light of the fact that she is doing all this with 4 young (and very active) children running around the house.  Her servant’s heart and commitment to our shared mission is an example to all of us.

I wanted to write this as a testimony on Story Saturday, because Elise is an illustration of God’s goodness to us in providing someone who is able to use her gifts and talents for the good of our church.  I often get a lot of the credit because I am up in front, but Christ Church would not be what it is (or I should say who we are) without the faithful commitment of you, Christ Church members, to our shared mission.  From day 1 of our church we have had a strong culture of being in this together as a team.  That has only continued as we have grown.  I am so grateful to God that this church is not being built by one person, or even a select few, but is something that is truly shared amongst all of us.  That is a rare and beautiful thing and I am so excited to see how God is going to continue to build us as we pursue serving him together.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jeff
