A Great Kindness

Hi Friends,

This Sunday, someone very kindly told me that she gets together with her friend and prays for me everyday.  Many of you have told me that you pray for me and my family and it always means so much.  The words of the pastor Charles Spurgeon ring true,  “No one can do me a greater kindness than to pray for me.”

It can feel awkward to ask for prayer and yet, I have been studying the prayers of Paul and what is so clear is that he unashamedly and regularly asked for prayers on his behalf.  For example

“I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf” (Rom 15:30 ESV)

If such a man of faith was so aware of his need for people’s prayers on his behalf, how much more so should this small time pastor.  And so, since so many of you already do pray, and since I can use as many prayers as I can get, let me give you some things that you can pray for me.

  1. For strength to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge that my heart might glorify God in my delight in him

  2. For wisdom to lead our church on mission

  3. For faith to continue to labor in the gospel, believing that there will be fruit if I do not give up

  4. For protection from the snares of the enemy and temptations of my sinful flesh

  5. For thriving in my marriage with Angie and that God would help us grow more and more into being truly one

  6. For my children, that God would save them from a young age and give Angie and I wisdom and patience to lead them in being disciples of Jesus.

  7. For open doors to share about Jesus with those who have not yet put their faith in Him

Thank you in advance for your kindness.  I am profoundly grateful.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jeff
